The facelifted Ford EcoSport has been launched in the Indian market in five new variants namely -Ambiente, Trend, Trend+, Titanium, and Titanium+. The previous version of this car was a star performer of the company in terms of sales and the facelifted version is supposed to take this legacy forward. However, its rivals like Tata Nexon, MarutiVitaraBrezza and Honda WR-V have already been in the market for some time, and it will be interesting to see how far the newly launched EcoSport can go.

The next generation Ford EcoSport has dropped the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine of the outgoing model and brings a new naturally aspirated 1.5-liter petrol engine. The engine produces a power of 121 bhp at 6500 revolutions per minute and average torque of 150 Nm at 4500 revolutions per minute. The diesel variant of Ford EcoSport generates a lesser power of 99 bhp at 3,750 revolutions per minutes but able to produce a better torque of 205 Nm at 1,750 rpm. The top-end petrol variant comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission option. However, the other variants come with a 5-speed gearbox with the manual transmission system.
Despite producing such a high amount of power, the petrol engine comes with an ARAI-certified mileage of 17 km for the manual trim, and 15 kmpl for the automatic. The diesel engine, on the other hand, manages to deliver a superb mileage of 23 kmpl.
The Ford EcoSport facelift is much more than just an ordinary update. The moment you enter this subcompact SUV, the attractive cabin will grab your attention. For entertainment purpose, it has got a redesigned 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard.The Ford EcoSport steering wheel has MID (multi-information display) control buttons which make it easy to receive phone calls and play music while driving the car. The front armrest has got wider than the previous one and the footwells are modified with ambient lighting.
The car has got some outstanding changes. The dashboard has been mounted with a large infotainment screen that features a new SYNC3 connectivity that makes it compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ford EcoSport Titanium+ is loaded with some really cool features like automatic climate control, glove box illumination, cruise control, ISOFIX, rain sensing wipers and tyre pressure monitoring system. Moreover, the top variants will also feature ESC, hill start assist and traction control.
The new EcoSport have only two airbags on the front as standard. The top two variants, however, come with six airbags for the safety of rear passengers as well. The Ford EcoSport also comes with some prominent features like ABS and EBD.The top models run on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the lower variants get the 15-inch unit.
Having a look at the present condition of the Indian automobile market, the Ford EcoSport is rising as a tough competitor for SUVs like Mahindra TUV 300, Maruti Suzuki VitaraBrezza and Tata Nexon.
